Not related to Bankruptcy but still about "They got the wrong man".

I received a call from IQOR to collect for Rogers, though I understand now that Rogers had written off the debt and sold it at discount to IQOR. Anyway, they seem to have just picked someone with the same name as me randomly from the phone book. I told them they have the wrong person but, who who knows. I understand from this site they now have 30 days to correct the error or will be vulnerable under law to a legal claim.

Sometimes it is difficult getting the banks to update your record in a timely fashion, so you can also attack it from the other end. If you go to the Equifax website there is a method laid out to correct any inaccuracies (https://www.econsumer.equifax.ca/ca/view/common/dispute_process.jsp).

Phone or visit your bank and request that they contact both Equifax and Transunion and have this item removed from your credit file. Wait one month and then request a Consumer Disclosure Report from both credit bureaus. These reports are free to the consumer. If the bankruptcy still appears on either or both reports under "Public Records", visit your bank and ask them to explain why the bankruptcy still remains on your report. Don't leave the bank until this matter is rectified and confirmed by the bank.
