I need help on settling a personal line of credit from HSBC Canada. The amount is around 8,000. It is past 120 days late. I spoke with them on the phone and they agreed on a 50% settlement however they would not provide a settlement letter, they said a verbal agreement is enough. They said HSBC does not give out settlement letters at all. They said letters are only given after I have paid the 50% amount. Can you kindly provide your thoughts on this? Has any of you had experience settling with HSBC and has any of you received official settlement letters from HSBC?
Also, what was the lowest amount they were willing to settle and how many days late was your account during the time they settled?
Thank you so much and your replies are well appreciated.
