Debt Settlement is definitely a reality but that hardly ensures that the company you elect to provide such services is either qualified, competent or honest.

Debt settlement isn't bad

There is nothing wrong with debt settlement companies... who ever they are, or however they got to the point where they're doing debt settlement is irrelevant...

Some people just don't want the hassle to settle their debts... just as some people don't like to do the mechanics on their own cars... if there wasn't a market place for debt settlement, there wouldn't be debt settlement companies...

It takes a special personality to offer the debt settlement service, that's for sure... collection agents have tough hides.. and so it may be more appropriate for them, then a timid person who doesn't like confrontation

Marriage Made in Heaven

I wonder if Deanna Natale will have a conversion after her disciplinary hearing on January 11&12, 2011, and demonstrate her contrition to the Law Society by avowing to become a consumer advocate lawyer like Mark Silverthorn.

Maybe they might even become partners. Yes, I know, I know....... Nevertheless, stranger things have happened. After all, Natale took over Mark's old job at Global, albeit with considerably more relish. Is it such a stretch to think that, once again, she might follow where Mark has tread before?

Or if Brian Pitkin moves on from heading the Debt Regulatory Unit at Consumer [Non]Protection, perhaps Natale with her political connections, might wind up with the gig. Strange? Well, Pitkin was in collection enforcement before too. And one certainly gets the impression when making a complaint to Consumer Protection that their staff are more interested in protecting collection agencies than consumers.

Apparently, the collection industry is a fertile ground for those seeking careers in Consumer Protection.

An excellent video referral by Averagejoe. Kinda backs up the "Do it yourself" refrain I've been continually making. No offense, but the bulk of debt settlers are recycled collection agents trying to get a bigger slice of the consumer pie. They claim they're working for you now instead of a collection agency, but it's clear in both instances, they're working for themselves.

Do some reading, save some money, and do it yourself. Force these debt settler parasites to go out and get a real job. Debt settlers scoff and insult me but now you can see why. I'm costing them money.
