I am received so many calls that I started to get the ins and out of their actions.
First, they will call from an unknown or some local number. There will be a delay when you engage the line and the agent is connected. So, you say hello, and there is a few seconds of silence.
Someone will say hey "your name" right away, no hello or can I speak too..
They will try to verify your address, full name.
Collection call will begin, at this point act crazy, hang up or mail a request to only be contacted by mail. Get call display, voice-mail and bell call privacy, these will help keep the calls from coming in. Just refuse to pay, after 7 years its off your credit report.
Change your number to unlisted. Change your number.
Do not ever accept "return mail" or speak to anyone about some priority mail, I think they use this to find out better numbers to call you. Tell your entire family about this and not to give any info.
Make up a fake name for your self, and ask to take a message on each call if you feel like it is collections. Get that phone number, call it back, you'll know what it is about.
