Hi aldinaH

I'm slowly trying to put your jig-saw puzzle together. From your last thread, it appears that you received a speeding ticket in November 2008 issued by London Police Services. Is this correct? Was your licence valid when you were stopped? If yes, did you have to surrender your licence to the police? When you paid the speeding ticket, to whom did you pay it? Was it the City of London or the Ministry of Transportation? Why was your licence suspended and for what period of time? If you can answer these questions, or correct my understanding of your situation, then perhaps I can give you some more direction.

I paid my speeding ticket 10 months after it happened, then I waited two more weeks to pay 180 dollars to re-instate my license. I went back to the ministry of transportation and paid and had it re-instated.

I called iQOR and asked for the official document to be sent to me by mail before I paid for the new fee, and he cut me off and told me no, that it was a fee from the ticket going to collections, I said okay, then why are you just sending me this now, and he said we just got it from the city of london.
I then said, okay, so is it fees from it going to collections or is it from the city of london? I then asked for a manager and it went to an answering machine.

I'm going to the ministry tomorrow morning and showing them the fees and they can look up what they are from and hopefully wave it for being random and out of the air. I would think that when I paid for my ticket they wouldn't have let me pay it partially or let me re-instate my license.

The guy I talked to on the phone said my license was going to be suspended again if I didn't pay this fee in the next 14 days.

Hi aldinaH

When did you pay your speeding ticket? Did you pay it before you renewed your driver's licence or did you pay it at the same time you renewed your driver's licence? If you paid it at your local Ministry of Transportation office, they would have given you a receipt. Do you still have this receipt? As you may know, all applications to renew a driver's licence in Ontario come from Kingston, Ontario. The application is usually issued approximately two months before the expiry date of your licence. Your licence is issued for a period of 5 years and costs $75. If there are any unpaid moving violations, e.g. speeding, that amount will be shown on the application and must be paid together with the $75 in order to renew your licence. If you paid to renew your licence by sending a payment to Kingston, then you should have your cancelled cheque or if you paid by credit card, that payment would show on your credit card statement.

Keep us posted on this site and we'll take it from there.

Are they allowed to do this?

Postby aldinaH » Thu Jul 15, 2010 02:54:07 PM

I came home today to find a bill from iQOR stating that I owed money from a speeding ticket from Nov 2008. I paid the bill in full at the ministry of transportation, I would think that if I still owed them money they would have told me when I paid it, I also paid to re-instate my license as well.

This is the first letter I am getting about this charge and on the letter it says that they have tried to contact me numerous times. When I called and said this is the first time I've heard about this, why haven't you contacted me, they said they didn't have my contact info cause my account was just updated.

If they didn't have my contact info how were they able to hound me previously on the phone over another dispute with them that I had with rogers.

I tried to understand what the girl was saying but her accent was too thick for me to get anything out.

Does this make any sense at all? I'm worried it's been sitting there destroying my credit for two years without them contacting me. :S
