Taking vacations from time to time at your age is definitely needed. Using the best travel rewards credit card will definitely make your vacation lighter on the pocket.

Your decision to switch to travel reward card is a good decision, but finding the best reward card proves to be a challenge. I suggest you do more research about it and do comparisons on several cards. I can see that there are a handful of websites that provides card comparisons.

i guess the main question is this: if the benefits are available... taxable or not.. why not take advantage of them... extra money is money be it for travel or cash back...

if you can travel for free with money that you would normally spend anyway... why not?

I never did like the reward cards. I heard some where’s that Revenue Canada is going to set up a system that they can track the rewards points system. I guess it’s another way to find out if people are cheating on their income taxes.

Is Travel Rewards a Good Choice for us?

Postby AnneCB40 » Mon May 03, 2010 08:01:13 AM

Hi, we are a couple from Vancouver I’m a nurse and my husband runs his own small sport shop. We are in our late forties and have just started to use credit cards a few years back. We used to pay everything with cash because we were scared of the interest rates of credit cards.

A few years back, we signed up for a low interest credit card with Capitol one with a fixed interest rate of 5.99%. We are currently enjoying low interest rates with no annual fees. But a friend of ours introduced us to the beauty of switching over to travel rewards points credit cards. We are certainly not getting any older and we’re planning to start taking vacation trips at least once a year.

We were told that we can actually get to travel to certain destinations using the points we used up if we switch to travel rewards card. We usually spend about $25,000 to $30,000 a month and we realized we are passing up huge points. We just realized that if we switch to travel rewards card, we could earn so much points and we can actually use these points to get free trips or miles to our favorite destinations. We did some research on some travel rewards card and we’re currently eyeing on MBNA World Points Mastercard. We are hoping you can give us tips if we are making the right decision and if there are other travel rewards card you can recommend?
