Like Mini Coopers, tear-drop trailers are a really cute but impractical use of space. Just had a second thought about outlawing Segways. They're really expensive, so there wouldn't be many of them. Anytime you'd see one on a street, you'd lose your attention with driving and accidents would happen for sure. Wonder it that was the thinking when they effectively banned them. Can't think of anything other reason, because it just doesn't make any sense to ban such an eco-friendly and safe-to-operate vehicle and yet give a total green light for ebikes...

Thanks. That moped is a Yamaha QT50 circa 1979. Needs work, just bought a new carb, getting a battery. I agree, they should require the whole shebang for ebikes. Besides, they look really dumb. :) Kinda like a cheap flashy running shoe from Walmart on 2 wheels. Junk, and dangerous on the road for other drivers.

And, btw, Toronto laid down the law about Segways a few years ago. Can't operate one on streets or sidewalks; only in parks where they have been *specifically* approved for use, if I remember the details correctly. In other words, they allow free reign and free cost for a rider on ebike with only probably a four foot total height with rider and not easily visible on the road, but a Segway with much greater visibility and maneuverability is outlawed out of the province.

I just bought the moped on Kijiji. Wanted a gas-powered vehicle, not electric. Funny how Ontario requires a license, registration and insurance for a vehicle that has the same size and speed of an ebike, which requires none of that. The moped was only $250, btw.

New plates Highway 407 debt

I owe Highway 407 several hundred dollars. I want to register a 49cc moped (requires plates in Ontario). Will Highway 407 prevent me from getting the plates until I pay them back in full? From looking around the internet I see that legislation allows them to. Will it actually happen for a moped?
