In Canada, since most Visa cards are issued by Canadian banks, and most Mastercards are issued by American banks or other providers (like President’s Choice), there can be major differences due to these differences in the issuers. To keep the comparisons as simple as possible (there is a wealth of choice out there!), we’ll focus on the most popular Visa Platinum cards today, and the Mastercard Platinums in another post. Hopefully this information can help you make an informed decision.
Visa Platinum

First the good news: at its most basic, Visa Platinum cards, like Visa Gold cards, are largely the same as the Visa Classic card you might already use. All three types will work in the places Visa is accepted, and they all offer zero liability if your card is used for any unauthorized transactions, both online and in stores.

TD Platinum Travel Visa

Unlike some of the other options, TD’s only Platinum Visa card is a travel reward card. This card costs $99 a year, and has an interest rate of 19.75%. And there are tougher restrictions: you need to be making at least $35,000 a year to apply for this card, and like any credit application, you’ll need to prove you have great credit to get it.

RBC Platinum VISA

RBC has two Platinum VISAs. The RBC Platinum is the most accessible Visa Platinum card issued by a Canadian bank: you only need to make $15,000 a year to be eligible for the card. The minimum credit limit is also low, at $1,000. RBC’s Platinum Visa also offers the security of chip and PIN technology; however, this is likely coming to all of the VISA cards soon enough. The interest rate for the card is also a fraction lower than TD’s, at 19.5%.

hi..

what other credit cards can you suggest that are issued by other credit card company or banks aside for the American Express credit cards?

can you give me some benefits that American Express credit cards do not have? or simply give me one advantage of a card that would put an edge over the American Express cards?

thanks..

hello there,

aside for American Express credit cards, i can show you more credit cards coming from other card issuers such as Capital One, MBNA, CitiBank and more.

these cards offer exclusive benefits that is not offer to other credit cards. usually these kind of cards require good or excellent credit history which mean that these are only limited to those who have maintained a good rating.

not all of the card applicant can get these card as application for this card undergone strict scrutinizing by the card issuer as this cards give excellent offers. one of the top benefit of these cards is the high credit limit reaching around $100,000 and could be stretched further. there are a lot more features.

here is the link of the Best Platinum Credit Cards in Canada:

browse on each card to identify the exclusive offers that these cards provide their clients and compare them. in that way, you can then decide which card is suitable for you.

if ever you come to a point that you get confused on some things whether on the credit card offers, benefits or features. you can post it in this thread and i can assist or help you. thank you.

hi..

is this new card benefit of American Express Platinum Card true to all the credit cards? or just available to some credit cards?

i am asking this because my friend is holding a American Express Air Miles Platinum Credit Card. if ever i will go along with my friend on a trip, will i be included in the lounge benefit that is currently offered by the platinum card?

i would be sad if i won't be able to get access with the lounge benefit. i would just be seating around looking at my friend enjoying the card's benefit. i would rather go alone than being with my friend and just meet up with him when we reach the destination we are going.
