I am searching out some different mastercards

I want a good low interest card so that I can do some balance transfers.

I see the MBNA - Platinum Plus® MasterCard® on your site, and it's got a 1.99% promotional rate for 10 months...
/mbna-mastercard-canada.html

Capital One® SmartLine™ Platinum MasterCard has a rate of 5.99% which is a permanent rate.

I looked at BMO low interest cards http://www.bmo.com/home/personal/banking/rates/mastercard .... on the site it says that their rates are usually 19.99% , however, if you pay a $35 fee they'll knock your rate down to 12.9%....

Alterna Mastercard has a 9.99% rate... that bank is based out of Ottawa.

These seem to be the only low interest mastercards available... unless I'm mistaken.. these would be the best mastercards for having a low interest rate. http://www.alterna.ca/Templates/BankPersonal.aspx

the credit-debit code became more strict than what is expected. Visa and MasterCard are not allowed to enter the Canadian low-cost debit market. Merchants who accept a company's credit card can't also be required to accept their debit product. And they can terminate contracts with payment processors who raise or introduce new fees.

Canadians may not notice much difference in the way they use plastic to make purchases.

But federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's voluntary code of conduct for the credit and debit card industry has fundamentally changed the rules of the game, merchants and consumer advocates say.

Among the highlights:

Banks will no longer be able to issue premium credit cards that cost merchants more to process without first asking consumers whether they want them

No-interest MasterCard aims at devout Muslims.

this has been made in respect for the Muslims who will be undergoing their feast which is Ramadan. they will not be charge of any interest for the reason that usury is forbidden in their religion. they are respecting this rule as well as the MasterCard companies.

Zero interest and faith are not words one commonly associates with credit cards.

They do have a place in discussions about the iFreedom Plus MasterCard, tailored to meet the religious requirements of Canada’s Islamic community and recently launched by Toronto company UM Financial.

“There are clients in the market looking for structured products that are compliant,” from credit cards to mortgages, said Omar Kalair, president and chief executive officer. UM Financial plans to market the card to all Canadians.

hi..

BMO credit cards are getting an edge over other credit cards particularly on giving rewards points. the card issuer waived the annual fee of the card and doubled the amount of rewards points to be earned.

this would be a good choice for individuals who are aiming for travel points in which it can be redeem with plane tickets, merchandise, gift certificates and more.

BMO Lowers Credit Card Costs for Small Business Owners with Introduction of Two New MasterCard Products

TORONTO, ONTARIO, Jul 8, 2010 (Marketwire via COMTEX) --
BMO Bank of Montreal (TSX: BMO | PowerRating)(NYSE:BMO) today introduced two new credit cards that give small business owners low rates, low fees and simple choices:

-- a no-fee AIR MILES MasterCard for Business that features higher rewards,

rebates and discounts and free access to business support networks and

tools; and

-- a no-fee Preferred Rate MasterCard for Business that features a 17.5 per

cent interest rate -- lower than most no-fee cards in the market today.

"Busy entrepreneurs want low rates, low fees and simple choices. And if they collect rewards, they want a card that is accepted virtually everywhere and helps them maximize their rewards without sacrificing a low interest rate. They can get all of that with a BMO MasterCard for Business," said Nancy Marescotti, Director, Payments Marketing, BMO Bank of Montreal.

The BMO AIR MILES MasterCard for Business card replaces two predecessor cards(i), eliminating the $60 fee and doubling the amount of rewards earned from 1 reward mile for every $40 spent on the card to 1 reward mile for every $20.
