as my name says , I live in Calgary AB
I moved here recently from Nova Scotia for work.
I look around at the expensive houses and the fancy cars

This place must be run on credit!!

Sorry for the side comment

I have some credit, but I need more credit from the looks of it.. right now we are renting an apartment, but soon would like to buy a house

the question i've got is will these cash back credit cards/travel rewards increase my credit score? is there some special property that will help benefit my credit score?

I have a credit limit of $5000 on my on credit card and a credit limit of $3500 on the other card.. if i increase the credit limits will that show the creditors that i can handle a mortgage? we're looking at a small mortage of $250000... a quarter of a million dollars!! that's unheard of for starter homes where i come from.!! we're just a young couple.. I had no idea that calgary was so expensive

any thoughts on what i can do to make us credit worthy for $250000?
You need alot of credit to live in Calgary Alberta Canada

cash back credit cards - for people who like cash back rewards

Postby montyloree » Sat Dec 11, 2010 07:18:13 AM

cash back credit cards are for people who are "convenience users" - they pay off their balance at the end of each month... These are people who use their cards to earn points only... They don't want air miles, or gifts or whatever, they just want to receive cash back points...

I'm all with that... cash back is where it's at!!

Mortgage deals in Canada is currently getting better. CIBC has been making thing easier for their clients especially on the cash back rates. aside from that, CIBC are giving free of charge when you transfer your existing mortgage. No legal, appraisal or transfer-in fees are as well required. this can make you feel mortgage frenzy!

Canada's Bubblicious Mortgage Deals
You can get some pretty good mortgage deals in Canada these days. Tuesday I got this drift via this intrusive banner advert from CIBC. Clearly CIBC wants you to see this advertisement.

The deal is 4.74 fixed with 2% cash back if you switch to CIBC. The company says:

Making the switch to a CIBC mortgage is easy and convenient. We’ll contact your current institution, complete all of the paperwork for you and transfer your existing mortgage for free — we don’t charge legal, appraisal or transfer-in fees.

I’m sure you can get great deals at other banks too – and without a whole lot of money down as I pointed out in an addendum to a post on Lehman Brothers a few weeks ago. TD was offering 5% cash back if you signed a deal with them.

What about this no money down deal from RBC? Take a look.

hi jean,

actually, i haven't gone there yet. still in the process of getting things together. i haven't seen the card that i would apply for cause i don't want to be tied with something i will regret in the future and would give me lots of problems. i don't want to rush things since i am planning to finalize my trip near the end of the year.

i am currently keeping my eyes on news about credit cards as well as constant visit on credit cards website.

how i wish i can share my experience with you now but sad to say that i have not gone there yet. but thanks for asking.

hi Nathan05,

hows everything going now? was your Bahamas trip one of your unforgettable experience? i can't imagine how beautiful the place is especially its waters.

how about the tours you made around the island? was it worth it with expenses you have paid for?

talking about expenses, what card are you using right now? is that the credit card you used when you got all the stuff you when you had your trip?

hi..

Capital One do have another card that is excellent to use as well which is the Aspire Gold MasterCard. this card will also allow you to earn some miles points for every dollars you spent using the card. it also give extra bonus miles when the card is used for the first time and also when the card company celebrates it yearly anniversary.

however, the only difference between the Aspire World and Aspire Gold is that the gold card doesn't charge any annual fee compare to the $120 fee of Aspire World.

it is you decision which card are you going to pick as both card offer great benefits and features.

hi there,

i usually spend around $7000 every month with my credit card using it with personal needs and also for my business. However, this trip that i would take would cost me double reaching me $15,000.

i think i would go for your advice. i'll check on Capital One Aspire World MasterCard if it would give me good savings. i would also like to see the benefits and features of the card that i can use for my trip and when using it in my daily transactions.

how much points have you already earned since you have started using your credit card? how long did it take you to get a free flight ticket that came from your accumulated points?

thanks for your advice TravelSuite..

hi Nathan05,

Instead of using a cash back credit card, why don't you get the capital one travel credit card? that's what I use. Is it mentioned in an earlier post I just went to San Francisco and had all my hotels paid, and airline fare paid. I just switched to the Capital One - Aspire World MasterCard which will give me even more rewards for my money.

How much are you spending per month on your credit card? This will ultimately tell you how many points you to collect per month.

Traveling for free is good for me, and my business!
I love the sweetness of travelling.. I like to travel, I like being home after travelling
