If a debt is sold the purchaser can still pull your credit report. Now, if the debt on your credit report is not accurate and cannot be verified then get it removed.

The CMA webmaster Monty Loree wrote an excellent ebook on this subject and the info can be had here: /canadian-credit-repair-ebook.html

I don't even know what this debt is, and since they are not making an effort to get a hold of me; it is a moot point to them. I have no account number to go on, nothing to find out what this is even about. I have paid all my bills, and yes my credit did get a little slow because of my ex taking everything, and leave me with nothing but the kids. It took me 6 yrs to get everything on track, and now they do this? I don't think so. Every time someone checks your credit report it does bring your score down. I am smart this time... I have one credit card. My visa was the one that suffered 7 yrs ago, and I paid them off two years ago. I keep a low credit limit, and always pay my balance off at the end of the month. I am not going to make arrangements to pay anything when that is not my bill. And since they have not even tried to verify if this is my debt, this is classified as an invasion of my privacy. I phoned Service Alberta today to verify this fact. Also if it is a purchased debt, they can not just pull up your credit information. The original contract then ceases to exist with the original creditor and debtor.

There is language written into your original agreement with the creditor that allows the collection agency to pull your credit report.

The inquiry isn't what does the damage to your credit report; its the debt load that you carry and the fact its delinquent.

IMO make arrangements to pay the debt in a lump sum settlement and the credit issue takes care of itself. If you don't have the means then your credit report is a moot issue and not worth worrying about.

Can CVB just pull up my Credit Report anytime they like?

Postby dutchiegirl » Tue Mar 30, 2010 01:22:16 PM

I have a question, and I am wondering if this is completely legal? I just checked my credit report, and discovered on there a debt from CBV COLL SVCS. opened on November 2007. Here we are in 2010, and I noticed just at the end of January that they pulled up my Credit Report again. I have never heard from these people in the 3 yrs since opening that account. they do a credit check, and I still haven't heard from them. I know I didn't sign anything saying that I would give them permission to do that when ever they feel like. If these companies say they will continue to hurt your credit, that is exactly how they are going to do it. What are your opinions on this entire situation?
