ok...
all of our cash back credit cards are located on this page.

/cash-back-credit-cards.html

If you're spending $7500 monthly, I would highly recommend the Capital One - Aspire World MasterCard... It's got an annual fee of $120 but you collect 2 points for every dollar spent and you get 35000 bonus miles on the first purchase plus 10,000 bonus rewards points on each anniversary that you own your card.... you'll collect the most points possible this way.

hi there,

im not sure of the earning capacity but i have seen in your illustration talking about Scotia card that one of the weakness is $1000 cap on earning. i thought its true to all Scotia cards and made it the reason that i do get low cash back. am i wrong or what?

since i have this card i've been having doubts if i have gotten some advantage over the cash back benefits it offer but it seems that im spending more and getting less returns. im frustrated.

can you please help me. i want to get a different card and get rid of this card. i think everything is not falling on its place.

hey lvrunner,

what do you mean by having a $1000 capacity? does your scotia visa cash back card have a limit as to how much cash back you can collect?

http://www.scotiabank.com/cda/content/0,1608,CID13387_LIDen,00.html

It looks as if Scotia Momentum is their only cash back card. I doesn't appear to say anything about cash back limits

i do have a ScotiaBank credit card and thanks to your posted that i have just came across. it pushed me more to get a different credit card that would give me more cash backs compared to what my card is returning in my account.

im aware that my card do have a $1000 capacity in earning cash back but its unfair on my part as i spend triple of the amount that is placed in the monthly expenses spent in the illustration. i spend around $7500 every month which means i spend $90,000 annually but out of it i only get $1000 or higher.

unlike Capital One which doesn't have any cash back earning capacity. i do earn large amount of income but i considered cash back as a saving on my part. i have worked hard for the money i earn and i should be responsible in spending it.

i'll better check Capital One credit card for the reason that they allow their card holders to earn as much cash back. i can maximize the returns that i will get which i can use to spend on other important things.

This is the same analysis as the one below except the monthly spend is only $2000.

Based on the assumptions that I've made, the Scotia Momentun card makes $15 more. This is based on the fact that the person spends $1500 on groceries each month.

The bottom line is , if you're spend more than $2000 per month, and you want cash back rewards, Capital One Cash Back Platinum is the right card. Scotia Momentum only performs well with a lower spend.

You've got to spend enough with the Cash Back Platinum to justify the $99 annual fee.

Compare: Scotia Momentum™ VISA vs Capital One Cash Back Platinum Plus

This is Compare: Scotia Momentum™ VISA vs Capital One Cash Back Platinum Plus

The problem here is that the Scotia Momentum card is capped at $100,000 spend or cash back of $1000. For most people this is probably adequate... however there are people that spend more than $8333 per month on their credit card...

I calculated the 2% based on an assumption of $1500 per month in groceries.

The question I've got still is, which groceries stores and gas stations are covered with this card?

I just noticed this disclaimer about the Scotia Momentum Visa...

They cap the cash back rewards at $1000... which is $100,000x.01... I'm sure most people aren't going to spend $100,000 on groceries. So you're not likely to get $2000 in cash back here.

You're only getting the 2% for ELIGIBLE groceries, gas, recurring payments and drug store purchases, for the first THREE statements. So.. this offer is only good for three months.

§ Any purchases normally earning 1% cash back, will earn a full 2% cash back during the offer period. This special offer applies to purchase transactions appearing on your first three statements. Scotiabank may choose not to credit cash back on net annual purchases greater than $100,000 (combined spend between 1% and 2% cash back levels) or which on a monthly basis exceeds your credit limit. Account must be in good standing at time of cash back payout in order to receive the additional cash back. The bonus cash back will be accumulated and displayed in the "1.00% cash back" section of your statement within two statement cycles following the end of the offer. Special offer expires October 31, 2010.
