Monty: How do I apply for that? Apply for warranty?

President's Choice: The extended warranty? You do not need to apply for it, that’s free of charge. So as long as you use the card for something and you would like to claim the extended warranty then you can call to customer service who will put you through their department and you can claim that.

Monty: So I buy a computer at Best Buy and it breaks after 3 months or after 4 months and their warranty is 3 months, So then I can contact you and what do you do? What do you provide with that?

President's Choice: I don’t have the details on the extended warranty sir, if you like I can put you through their department. They will be able to give you the details to what exact they follow. The only thing I know is that if you have a 3 months warranty and you purchased a product on PC Master Card we extend the warranty. We double it. So you’ll get additional 3 months from then. I think you will have to just place the claim in the warranty then what details they ask you, I’m not sure. Would you like to speak with them?

Monty: Yes. I will call them afterwards, what is the number?

President's Choice: I can give you the number, bear with me for 1 moment please. Their number is 1-866-744-5737.

Monty: And as far as your points go, you give for every dollar spent and give 10 points. Right now I’ve got about 40,000 points.

President's Choice: I can check what the point balance right now. If it is 40,000 then you can redeem it towards $40.

Monty: What is that mean exactly?

President's Choice: That means, anything that you haven’t authorized on the card, you’re not held responsible for it. So we do take care of everything that show up on your card or which you say that you haven’t authorized for this charge to go that through, we do take care that for you.

Monty: I see. Well that’s pretty standard with any credit card isn’t it?

President's Choice: About other cards, I’m not sure sir. I cannot talk on their behalf.

Monty: So what is the other benefit? You said zero liability and what is the other one?

President's Choice: Extended warranty, anything that you purchased on the card, we do extend the warranty. We double it up to 1 year.

Monty: So if I go into Future Shop or Best Buy and purchased something and the warranty is 3 months, you’ll double it.

President's Choice: Right.

Monty: So you’re telling me that there is nobody in Canada that’s got 9.97% permanent interest rate.

President's Choice: No. As I said we do provide that promotion from time to time which may range from 0.9 to 5.97%, but all regular interest rates, the lowest that we offer is 19.97.

Monty: Why is that?

President's Choice: It’s up to the company. That’s what they have decided on. I can put it as a feedback if you like. They do look into the feedback as to how many customers are requesting it. If you like, I can do that.

Monty: Okay. So let’s talk about what are the perks of using the President’s Choice Master Card what benefits you have?

President's Choice: We do provide zero liability on the card that extends warranty, those are the free things. You do earn points on the card. For every $1 that you spend on the card, you do get 10 points which you can redeem to free groceries.

Monty: What is your liability?

President's Choice: What do you mean - like we do provide zero liability on the card.

Monty: How are you today?

President's Choice: I’m good, how do you do?

Monty: Good. I just have some questions about my President’s Choice Master Card.

President's Choice: What can I help you with?

Monty: Okay, so I noticed that my interest rate is at 19.9.

President's Choice: Your interest rate is that 19.97%.

Monty: Right, how can I get that lowered?

President's Choice: That’s the lowest we offer. We do not have anything lower than that.

Monty: I’m just looking at this discussion forum and one guy has got 5.97%, and another person got 9.97%.

President's Choice: Those would be promotional interest rates. We do provide them from time to time but there’s no promotional as of right now.
