the only problem is that one of those account doesn't have a date of first delinquecy at transunion , i tried to dispute it over the phone but they say i should contact the creditor cibc.
not sure what to do? if i call them , is this going to restart the SOL?
if not, do they have any incentive to actually update the account?

If those charged off items come off this year it should bring your score up.

improvement to credit score after having a secured credit card

Postby OttawaEng » Thu Mar 11, 2010 08:07:32 PM

hello guys,

i've had some money issue back in 2004 and as a result defaulted on a few credit card accounts.
i didn't pay them down and didn't file for a bankruptcy as well and they are still being reported as chargeoffs right now.
since late 2004 , i didn't have any other issues.

about a year and a half ago, i got a capital one secured card and have been using it since then.

however my equifax score got an initial boost from 481 to 513 and stayed there for over a year.

do i need to apply for more credit cards to get extra score points ? or do i have to wait for the chargeoffs to fall off the report?

is the balance on the charge off is still being factored in the credit utilization formula even though those account are closed ?

thanks in advance.
