There is no link. The e-mail address has been posted on here a few times. You should be able to find it. They don't really advertise that you can. You are suppose to go though the Consumer Affairs BS first and then if they can't do anything they might escalate it to the Registrar. That takes months so I just called the Registrar directly and he fixed my situation in two weeks.

I did not realize you could file a complaint with the Registrar's office..Do you have the link for that?
Still, I think the more complaints this company gets through the ministry the better..Maybe then they will start following the letter of the law when harrassing people..

Thank you both for your advice. I will send a complaint. I guess sending an additional letter to them (the C/A) is worthless, or I could send it in order to help my case and show that I WAS willing to cooperate and they decided to try to mess with someone who knew about her rights.

Consumer Affairs takes six weeks and in the end they are toothless. You are better off going straight to the Registrar.

Ugh. That is not good news. I've never had to deal with this before.

They say I owe something in the neighbourhood of $2300.00. Where from, I don't know. They've quoted some Alberta company that I have not done business with.

Good luck dealing with the credit reporting agencies. Equifax has procedures that are very much designed to favor the collection agencies and TransUnion staff is just simply retarded. I was in a similar situation -- mystery debt that I didn't have a clue about and which even if it was mine was ten years past stat barred -- and until I involved the registrar and sued the collection agencies I got nowhere. The system is horribly corrupt.

Hi Millie,

Yes, they can be in trouble for lying as they did, not to mention that they contacted me by phone not more 2 days after I received this notice that they had purchased this debt from some home decor company I have never heard of.

I did laugh at that and ignored the calls, intent on sending them a registered letter and communicating solely in written form. But, I have to check my credit report to see if it's on my credit report and I will issue a dispute with Equifax/TransUnion if that's the case. BTW, I also informed the C/A that any reporting of bad debt is premature and that they are to inform the credit reporting agencies that such a debt is being disputed. I think I should do that now, however, as they clearly aren't respecting the legislation.

I missed the part about "before the court" -- that is complete BS. You were never severed so nothing is before any court.

I may be mistaken but I think lying about that is actually something they can be fined over.
