I was living in Dubai about 5 years ago. While there I lost my job and was unable to pay credit card debt, which was about 20,000 dhm ($6000 cdn). I decided to leave and return to Canada, since staying would result in me being thrown in prison. Five years later I received a call wanting to collect this debt. They said if I did not pay they would inform Interpol and take legal action against me. What should I do? Due to financial situation I cannot possibly pay this debt which they say is now 90,000dhm. The original debt was about $5000 cdn when I left.
