Familiarize yourself with junk debt buyers.

I called the agecny and advised that the company has closed down 5 years ago and that some one else than me is involved in that situation...
they advised that they are not going after me but the company, but we (I and my partner) are responsible for the company....
1. why was I not sent any receipt before if it was not paid???
2. took them 7 years to realize that?

They can chase you as long as they want for money. And yes they can pursue you and/or your partner.

Why not ask for some evidence the money is owed from the collection agency, your choices are 1) deny you owe it if you truly believe it's bogus. 2) pay it if you owe it.

I have owned a business with my partner, it was partnership NOT a corporation, that was 7 years ago. Recently I have received a letter from collection agency that our company owns $640.00 to some other company that we have dealt with. I don't have any receipts to prove that it was paid, neither i cant remember that far...
do they have a right to chase me for that amount after so many years?
Shouldn't they also chase my partner for it?
