my experience with natale indicates they will be rather aggressive.... though if you send them a letter requesting all the info they have on you (inc phone calls, payments, original contract etc) under PIPEDA they will simply ignore your request..... From what the SK consumer protection guy told me they can be more aggressive than a regular collection agency because they are a law office and therefore get away with more....

OK, thank you for that helpful information. I was beginning to worry i had made a huge mistake by calling back. This forum is very helpful.

The fact that you received a letter from Natale Law Office regarding a 10 year old debt indicates the file is still open. However, how actively they will pursue you remains to be seen.

If this debt is 10 years old, then it is statute-barred. This means that the creditor cannot initiate legal action by suing you and getting a court order. Any verbal acknowledgement of the debt does not reset the SOL. To reset the SOL, the acknowledgement must be in writing and signed by the debtor.

I got a letter from Natale Law and i called back, i informed her this debt is over a decade old and i have no intentions on paying it. Should i be worried now that i've called back??? Will they be able to re-open the file since i have now acknowledged it even though it is over 10 yrs old? Please advise

Someone form this firm has been calling my home in BC for the past week or so with a very sneaky and sleezy effort to dredge up business.

It starts with a male voice claiming to be calling on behalf of a fellow lawyer at some law firm (not identified anywhere in the taped mail message.

The man seems to ask for a woman but when you analyze he name he is seeking, you quickly realize he is playing a game, mouthing words that actually sound like names but don't make any sense when you listen closely.

I called the person's 1-888 number this morning and spoke to a woman who was quite irate I would not identify myself or acknowledge someone with a name similar to the one they are seeking resides here.

I demanded to know who she was and who she represented. She would give neither until I instisted and she said Natale Law. I asked her address and she gave Markham Ontario, although she would not identify herself.

I have no debts to anyone especially not Rogers or her and I advised her that should she continue to call my residents I would retaliate, initially in a legal manner and if need be, through the same harassment techniques she uses.

This woman seems to be some kind of scum bucket who thinks she can frighten innocent folks into complying with her demands.

I must wonder what sort of lawyer has to reach this low for an income. Time for Canada's law schools to start vetting the scum or at least making ethics a manditory subject.

Actually, now that she has my blood circulating I'm kind of hoping she ignores my advice and calls again. I could use a game of phone tag from hell.
