If it's not already on your bureau, and you pay it, I don't think they'll then put a negative (or positive, for that matter) remark on your bureau. It'll just stay incognito.

If you don't feel morally obligated, there is a form letter that someone can link you to that will invite them to launch a civil claim action (that you can successfully defend based on the statute of limitations) and remind them that all contact is to cease unless it is related to the court case.

If I feel morally obligated and I choose to pay it off, could it scar my report. I don't suspect it will but I am completly ignorant when it comes to credit reporting.

Also, if I don't feel obligated, what are my option? Do I just ignore the calls or tell them to stop calling? As I mentioned in a previous post I am a very passive person and I tend to get railroaded easily.

Depends on if you feel morally obligated to resolve it to the mutual satisfaction of both yourself and your creditor.

Thanks for the advice Bill.

But should I be settle something that isn't on my report?

I guess I am most concerned with the timing of when things go sour.

Since getting my finances in order (late 2007) I am certain I haven't gone to collections for anything else.

I have been reading and as it stands on my report everything is beyond the SOL.

I will follow up when more info arrives.

You should call to see what it is and if there is a settlement available.

If they get nasty you can always just hang up...

Well the only one leaving Nasty Messages is CRS. The others I am only aware about because of the inquiries on my file dated.

2009-08-06 - TCR
2008-05-12 - METRO
2008-03-07 - TCR

I don't understand what the deal is with CRS, they leave some really terrible messages and I am a very passive person, this is one of the reasons I have been hesitating dealing with them. I realize I am being a coward by not calling them but I dont want to talk these people if I don't have to.

I just dont want to be in a situation where I think I am getting in to the clear and all of a sudden I get smacked by three or four negative entries on my file.

I am in the process of getting my TransUnion report to see if anything is listed on there that isn't on my Equifax report.

Thanks for the responses so far.

Are they all presently calling you? The 1 debt could've bounced around to different agencies. 1st placement, 2nd placement, 3rd placement is not uncommon.

No harm contacting them though, if you're concerned there might be unreported debts. Could be little things like dentists' bill or other stuff like that which might not be reported on bur.

Sorry ... Maybe my question should be more clear.

If everything is past SOL and only one collection agency is on my report. Should I be dealing with other collection companies who are making inquiries on my report?

I had no problem securing a line of credit last year but I don't want to run into a situation where I think everything is okay and two years from now there are 3 new entries on my report.

Once something is in collections doesnt it show up on my report? I don't understand why three companies are calling me if there is only one bad debt item on my file.

My head hurts.

"Could I be owing for something that is not on my credit report?"

Yes... You could.

Collections and Credit Report

Postby TroubledandWorried » Mon Nov 30, 2009 12:40:05 PM

I hope members of this forum could help me clear things up.

I pulled my report from Equifax last week and there is only one serious blemish for an credit card that I burned myself with.

Under Credit Information there is an entry for the credit card and it has the following information:

Status: Bad debt, collection account or unable to locate
Last Activity 2006-12

Date Reported: 2007-08.

Under Collection Accounts there is one item and the Agency is listed as CollectCorp Inc. and the date of last payment is 2006-11

Under Inquries there are three entries. Two from TCR and one from Metropolitan.

Here is where things get confusing. On a daily basis I get calls from the legal dept of C.R.S.

Am I missing something? Could I be owing for something that is not on my credit report? I am in the process of getting my TransUnion report to see if it shows something else, but I am very confused.

Everything else on the report is correct and in good standing.

Any input would be appreciated.
