More info (for Ontario) can be found in the Consumer Reporting Act, R.S.O. 1990, CHAPTER C.33 .... that said, perhaps a little Googling can locate the Manitoba version for you. My bad, I posted this prior to seeing which province you're from.

http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/statutes/english/elaws_statutes_90c33_e.htm#BK15

Have a look at section (3)(F)
(i) more than seven years have elapsed since the date of last payment on the debt or collection, or
(ii) where no payment has been made, more than seven years have elapsed since the date on which the default in payment or the matter giving rise to the collection occurred,
unless the creditor or the creditor’s agent confirms that the debt or collection is not barred by statute and the confirmation appears in the file;
Infuriating one C/A at a time..

llars well for that you have to send a letter to Equifax and Transunion and ask them to remove it and all other accounts that are over the 6 year statue of limitations and then send you a copy of your report so that you can see what else is on there. It is my experience that they do not delete things automatically they wait until you make a request, when you send the request you also have to send them two pieces of identification one showing your address. I have spent the past 6 months trying to get mine cleaned up, so you have to be patient but it will happen.

A debt that old should not be on your bureau.

You can send them a registered letter requesting contact by mail only.
