While I agree with Bill in the statement that cooperation is wise, if the agent you are currently dealing with is acting in an inappropriate manner, choose not to deal with that person. As to speak with her supervisor, and explain that while you are willing to cooperate in oder to have the problem corrected, you refuse to be treated with any disrespect.

I am an agent myself, and do not agree with the use of foul tactics to acheive response. Totall not necessary.

Either way. The agent is likely asking for a report on financial disclosure to ascertain a payment plan. We are required to answer to our clients when it comes to stuff like this, and they usually have strict payment plan authorization restrictions. You dont have to disclose full details, like what you have in the bank, or where your bank is, but it would be wise to let them know that you have X amount of debt already being paid and so therefore you can only pay X amount per month.

Some collection agencies will ask about your financial capacity in order to justify them accepting payments.

If you want a payment plan rather than paying the debt in full (as you likely agreed to do upon default), then you should co-operate.

I really dont get why people let bill collectors get to them, why not just hang up the phone if they are being rude?

Either way yes it will effect your credit, and yes it should be paid if you can pay it to avoid calls and further credit issues.

If you can pay it do it, if not, cross that bridge when you can.

If you are new to dealing with collectors this article will help you understand their lies and demands: http://totaldebtfreedom.ca/articles/article_13.htm

What can collections ask of you?

Postby drowning » Thu Nov 05, 2009 03:38:08 PM

I am just curious. I received a call today on a bill I admit I am behind on.. $1600 credit card. Now here is my concern. The girl told me they received the file 3 weeks ago and now they have 7 days to report back on what payment plan will be made. She has given me 24 hours to not only answer how I will pay it off.. but has DEMANDED I have a complete list of all of the household income and bills, repayments on all loans etc. Is this any of her business where...how.. or why I spend/owe???Other then coming it with a payment plan for this bill is it not my private affairs how much I may have in other debt??
This is the first I have heard from this company.. no letters etc...she happen to have my name.. but could not confirm any of my personal details. only had my husbands info... (card is joint)

I was very busy working as I run a daycare in my home and she had the nerve to say "can you shut that kid up.. it is important I talk to you about this" EXCUSE ME!!!

Do I have grounds to tell the B* tch to back off...???
