I agree with average_joe..
contact Capital One and have a visit with them...

They really like it when their customers contact them and update them with their financial status.

What I have found so far, that the statute of limitation in Newfoundland is six years for a creditor to sue you. I am going to double check with someone that is in the debt settlement business.

Hi Average Joe,

As your questions, no I am not in a position to pay it all off, I can only make monthly payments. I have no idea which collection agency has this account because I have never been contacted about it. It is about 2 years old and I have not made any payments on it since then, as I was not in a position to do. I am from Newfoundland. Thank you for your reply and I will contact the collection department of this company.

I would call capital one's collection department and state to them, you want to settle this debt. Are you in a position to settle this debt in a one time lump sum payment? How old is the debt? When was the last time you made a payment on this account? Who is the collection agency that you gave the payment too and how long ago? Which province do you live in?

What to do about an old credit card bill

Hi Monty,

I was wondering if you or someone out there could help me with this. I have an old credit card from capital one. It was a $1500.00 limit and I used it when I was not working and blah blah, you know how it is. Anyway, I was trying to get a loan and the bank told me that the card was now $7000. Wow, I just ordered my equifax to see what the total is. I want to start making payments on this a month but, I have not heard from a collection agency or anything. How do I go about getting in touch with someone to start making payments. Plus, I refuse to pay that amount when I did not use it.

Thanks,

Darlene
