Well I guess I'll have to contact my bank and get statements dating back a few years.
Thanks again for all the help.

I believe the burden is on you to prove them wrong. I guess you will know in time.

Well I was looking over things about disputing things on your report and equifax says this:

First, we review and consider the information you have sent us about your dispute. If this initial review does not resolve the problem, we will continue our investigation. This involves contacting the submitter of the disputed information on your behalf to review the details. They will investigate and report their conclusions to us. Based on their findings, we may make changes to your credit file. If the disputed information is correct, we will not make any changes.

Since they say "This involves contacting the submitter of the disputed information on your behalf to review the details"
Doesn't that mean they will need to prove that I made a payment when they claim I did. Since they won't have that proof (because I didn't) won't they have to change that?

Thanks,

If you have proof of payment in July/2006 then I would submit that for proof, otherwise no proof for August/2006 nothing will get changed.

Hello,

It would either be by credit card or through online banking. The problem I'm facing is, I could show that I paid in July of 2006. However how would that prove I didn't pay in August 2006? I'm just showing I did make a payment in July, and even though it was the last, a statement doesn't show that.

Thanks

I don't think the creditor is going to volunteer information that is going to be in your favor. How did you make the payment that you don't have proof for?

Hello,

I don't have proof since it was three years ago and I only kept my records for about two years. Could I still file some sort of complaint and wouldn't they be required to show me some type of proof I paid then?

Also thanks for the ebook, I'm going to look into it.

Thanks,

If you have proof of your last payment, I would fill out the Equifax form and explain the error and send along the proof of your payment.

Monty wrote a great DIY credit repair ebook, you can pick it up here: /canadian-credit-repair-ebook.html

It's worth it.

Hello Again,

I'll just post in this topic again rather than start a new one.

I got my free credit report from Equifax and something dosn't seem right.

I have a collection under my "Public records and Other Information" section.
It's for my rogers cable account from years back. What I find strange is;
1) The collection is under the "Public records and Other Information" section however it is NOT under the "Credit History and/or Banking Information" section.

2) It says this:

A collection was reported in 06/08 by ALLIED INT L CR in the amount of $xxxx. Balance outstanding: $xxxx. Reference: ROGERS WIRELESS. Date of last Payment: 06/08.

Now it says the collection was reported on 06/08 and the last payment was on 06/08. However I know for a fact the last time any payment on that account was made was I July/August of 2006! So more like 08/06. Could this just be a simple typo by them? Should I do something about it, and if so how?

Thanks,
