"Second of all, statute of limitations? There is none on debt."

Well...it says all how smart these people are. I have no further comment.

Melui00,

If your going to come on here and insult people you just proved to everyone on here, exactly what people have been saying about most bill collectors being rude and unprofessional. In my opinion Global does not go by the book because you are a reflection of your industry by coming on here and insulting people If you think people on here are going to believe that there is no statue of limitations, guess again, that’s why you’re trying to feed people lies so they won't use the statue against collection agencies when settling debts. Here is one another thing people are getting to know, the pipeda act and you will find people will use the act more often when collection agencies get out of line. If you want to come on here and educate people fine, but if you’re coming on here to insult us, take your big yak somewhere else.

Here is a message for all you collection agencies and bill collectors; we are on a mission on this site to educate every Canadian on how to handle bill collectors and their agencies. If you are a bill collector or a collection agency don’t be proud of what you’re doing for a living. I think you should look yourself in the mirror and say to yourself; I should not be rude to the people that I make my living off their financial hardship; instead I should be more sympathetic because someday the shoe might be on the other foot.

Wow such great insight from an obvious genius. Don't know how 1st and 2nd assignments work for banks huh?? Well it is different with every bank as to how assignments are distributed to agencies. There you learned something today.

If people have phone bill problems I'm sure you would be quite knowledgeable on the subject and somewhat of an authority so maybe you could answer some questions for people with respect to that. But coming on here and claiming to know that Globals legal actions are all done by the book when you can't even prove you have any type of association with the company isn't really proving you know what you're talking about.

Are you a new collector working a retail desk for phone clients by any chance? Whats the starting wage on that 12-13 bucks an hour?

Working for an agency doesn't mean you know anything regarding collections it just proves you can fill out an application for a company that will hire any idiot who can read.

I got another letter from them I was going to call them to make a settlement but when I checked the cell phone I took out and I forgot about for 7 years, this is past my statute of limitations, they threatened to garnish me at work I will tell my payable office this is illegal and I will call trans Canada as this account would of been opened 2002, I am not paying this Global Credit and Collections a cent, do you think I should call them and ask them to fax me paper work as the Trans Canada report states I opened the account in 2006, or does it mean the cellphone reported to the credit bureau in 2006? which would not make sense to me at all...I am going to call them up and see what happens...I will let you all know what is going on...

I would just ignore them and in time they will give up. I would check your Trans union file also.

That is what I did. I checked with Equifax and it's clean. I am sure I never would have qualified for a mortgage had this been on my file. It just annoys me to no end that after 10 years I still get calls on debts that I did not incurr. I have already had to pay off some back in early 2000 from that situation.
Thank you for the advice.

If they did it would not be legal and would get removed at once if you complained. If you can record your calls with them do it, without their knowledge so you can have some proof. I believe you’re in Ontario and the statue of limitation is two years and there is nothing they can do. I don't believe it’s in your credit file but I would check because in my opinion this agency is very sneaky. I would check with Trans union and Equifax.
