It just seems like I'm giving them far more information than they need, like a breach of privacy. I know it probably isn't, but I don't even share my income statements with my mother lol.

Creditor asking for a notice of assessment

Why don't you want to show them your NOA? They are going to think you are hiding something.

Its pretty common for creditors to ask for proof of income when entertaining a settlement. None of our clients have issues furnishing one when the creditor makes the request through us and you can always white out any personal information. They are just looking to see your reported income.

RE: Last date of activity

Hi again all.

On advice from you guys and this site I have done a couple things.

#1) I contacted Citi and have discovered the last date of activity is March 25, 2004 - so I have another year until this is removed.

#2) They also told me the amount of the debt is 60% of what Aktiv is claiming it is.

#3) I have tried my best to come up with money to settle the account - we have no assets, no vehicle, we rent, etc, so it is not easy - and we came up with a few thousand (25% of the Aktiv total) by making some arrangements with freinds.

End result - Aktiv wont accept it. They may consider it if I send them a copy of my tax return to prove my income, but I dont feel comfortable doing that.

I had made it aware to them that I know my rights regarding court, but they say they will take me to court in the nwt where they have up to 6 years to do so. At this point, I do not know if it is a bluff or not, and I don't care - I had tried to get together as much money as possible and a court would be able to see that.

I am refusing to pay the full amount, Aktiv has added so much onto it, I do not beleive it is fair. My credit is already crap, they cannot make it better. If they can't settle on what I am begging and scrapping for, then I'd rather just wait the year and forget about it.

Any advice for a very frustrated individual?

I would call them or go into the place you received the loan. I would not mention anything about your credit report. If they ask, just tell them you want to settle up your debt and you want proof of the balance and when the last time you made a payment on the account before you contact the collection agency. If they ask to call the collection agency, just tell them that the collection agency is refusing you the proof.

Who was the creditor that you owe the money to? The creditor always keeps records till the debt is paid or settled. The date does not reset because they hand over the debt. I would call the creditor and have them send you a print off of your last payment.

My report doesn't ever plainly state "last activity" no. And no, I do not have a record of a payment from that far ago.

When the Lendor hands the debt over to the collection agency, does the date reset? It kinda seems that way from whats happening here.

I have an opened date from the lender, and the date they reported it. My last payment date is neither of these.

Then we have a new opened date my the collection agency and a balance date. what is that ?
