Reform1,

This is the positive image that collectors should be giving their industry. In my many dealing with collectors there were a few that were very professional. The problem with most collectors, they make every debt personal. The collectors that are professional are the ones that make money in your industry.

Great first post, especially coming from someone in the collection business. I honestly believe that the majority of the people manning the phones for collection agencies, conduct themselves more inline with CollectorInRage, than the more professional manner that you have posted.

In my opinion, people don't apply for credit with the intention of falling behind in payments, or bailing on their obligations. However, life happens and people start to prioritize. People typically "hide" from collectors because after answering the first, second & infinite phone calls, they are verbally abused and pushed. I realize that there are exceptions to everything, just like you aren't posting like the majority of collection agents that the group that posts on this website have encountered, not everyone is going to pay if they get a professional acting collection agent. However, people when being abused will start to fight back, and want to know their rights when fighting back. That is the situation where most of the people that have visited this site have been in. In my honest opinion, people will be honest and try the absolute best to pay their outstanding debts, when treated with dignity, and in a professional manner.

Thanks for posting.

Most agencies do not allow it (I have to specify "most" as I know some allow it as they only see the commissions that it can generate) however some mortgage brokers try and circumvent the process by getting the collector's personal contact info and sending the referral commissions directly to the collector's residence or po box or wherever.

I know from my own experiences that every bill collector out there is not warped like collerinrage.I believe that any collector out there that gives out a debtors information to another to a mortgage broker for profit, without the consent of the debtor should be fired, and charged. If the collection agency is involved in these kinds of side deals they should lose their license. I would not want my information passed on to another creditor without my consent. I always wondered why I would receive letters from mortgage brokers that I never knew and now I know why.

This is my first ever post on this form however I have been visiting this site often. I am acutally in the collections industry at an agency in a senior capacity. Let me start by saying that I disagree 100% with Collectorinrage as they are a terrible reflection of people in our industry. I am sure I am going to get people against me solely based on the fact that I am in also in this field but I wanted to post as Collectorinrage is very unprofessional. I really hope that they dont believe what they are writing and just trying to be a pain as that attitude is absolutely ridiculo us. I believe his first post was on the CBV thread so if he does work there, I wonder how Bob Richards would feel knowing his company is being represented by staff like C.I.R.

In regards to this thread, please know that while Shopmymortgage seems to do things the correct way, our agency gets calls on a weekly basis from mortgage brokers asking the collectors to "refer" business to them when they find a debtor that owes money and owns their homes. These mortgage brokers offer side deals and additional lucrative commissions for these referrals so my guess is that C.I.R. was trying to find more brokers that they can send debtors too. I like the fact that he felt that this was a favor to the debtor and that they were helping them out. I guess this theory ties into his overall warped way of viewing things.

Collector, go take a flying leap off a tall building. The world needs less 'people' like yourself, and if you think for one nanosecond that you are somehow managing to intimidate anyone here, you're the idiot, not any one of us.

(and yeah, retarded? No one uses that word anymore, it's insulting to those human beings who were born with developmental problems, and who happen to be among the sweetest, nicest people around. Not that you would know, you probably drown kittens and kick puppies.)
