I would not mention anything about your credit file to Rogers or iqor.If they give you a hard time, you might have to get a lawyer to apply the pressure for them to handover the information. The reason they mess with people’s date of last activities is, people don't know the difference and also it makes the item remain on your credit file for longer period then it should.

Good Luck

If the last time you made a payment on this account was Oct/03 then the last date of last activity in your credit file should be Oct/03.If you can get proof of this, then you can get the credit bureau to update your file. Whether you pay this debt off or not, this item will come off your credit file on Oct/09 by law. If you don’t have proof; I would call the cell phone company and request a copy of your last payment and balance. If they ask you why you need this information, just tell them the amount is too high and you would like to know when the last time you made a payment on this account. I would not tell them you need this information because of incorrect information in your credit file, or they will give the run around.

The best thing for you to do is play dumb. If they think you’re smart, they will change your date of last activity on your credit file. If you have your credit reports showing the date of last activity is 2003, then I would keep these reports in a safe place. If the date of last activity on your credit file is 2003, then this item will come off on the month that is showing in your credit file. If you have receipts of the last time you made a payment on this account, I would also have them in a safe place. Do you know what month is showing in 2003 on your credit file?

iQor, Collections after a 2003 debt

Postby sweetjane » Wed Mar 04, 2009 09:49:11 AM

I recently have paid off all collection accounts off my credit report. I have one left with was a rogers wireless bill with CBCL and now it is with iQor, Inc. On my Transunion and Equifax credit reports it shows a high balance of $1241.00. I just called to see if they could make me a settlement offer and was informed that my bill is now $2600.00 and the best settlement offer that could be made was $1150.00 which I find strange cause just 8 months ago I was offered a settlement amount of $700. This has been on my credit report since 2003. Any advice??? I dont feel I should have to pay that much, my actual rogers wireless bill was $580 when it went to collections.....how do I deal with iQor, Inc..they are very rude to me and demanding i pay this amount by the end of the week...they keep telling me this is going to effect my credit lol but it has been on my credit reports for 6 years now........
