I meant the weekday evening calling starts at 6pm and ends at 7am Monday to Friday and weekends free.

Yep sounds good.. but of course it's more expensive over all. Unless of course you really use that phone over and over between 6 and 7 a whole lot.. (and aren't using it to call your faves and don't use it in the day time really... and so on. Point being its a big picture thing. And in the big picture.. for every bill I have ever put into the spreadsheet? Virgin comes out less expensive.

Hi all

As a person who owned a chain of cellular stores in Western Canada for 5 years (Rogers and Telus) I can tell you I spend a lot of time checking various bills against rates out there.

Virgin is the best rates bar non for pay as you go.

Anyone who signs access to their credit record over to a phone company for three years in return for 1 hundred dollars, or so, off a phone will regret it. Fork out the cash and stay in control. Period. GET the lesser phone if you have to.

PS I sold the stores.. I'm happily unbiased, and find the Virgin staff and site to also be far more friendly - they are not afraid to be contacted - which says something :)

I don't have a virgin phone right now but when I get cell again that will be it. (the MSN feature is kind of cool too, can save dough for those who use it regularly).

I believe Telus has one of the better pay as you go plans out there. I would also check virgin mobile.

You can always get a pay and talk cell phone. Telus charges 25 cents a minute. They also have add-ons. I got my son one that costs 20 dollars a month includes unlimited texting and free weekend calling. Check out telusmobility.com for all your options

It could. Check your bureau to be sure, but I believe Rogers does report to the bureaus. I'd pay for the score too just to know where I stand.

Your best bet is to contact Rogers and explain what happened. Ask them if they would be willing to reconnect your phone or at least change you from charged off to paid in full if you pay it off immediately. If the collection agency has you listed you will have to get them to agree to remove it from the bureau completely before paying.

Do you have any current credit cards? If so, that will help you to get a new phone.

If you need, you can get a cosignor. All you can do is ask the phone companies...

Worst case scenario, some of the prepaids have some pretty good plans that wont run you much more than the monthly ones do for now.

Rogers Cellphone Bill...need help!!

Postby camille » Tue Jan 13, 2009 07:55:14 PM

So I've been away at school for the past 3 years and when I came back I realised I had a cellphone bill with Rogers which was sent to CBCL!
I need a cellphone now but I cannot get one until I pay off the outstanding balance with rogers. Paying off rogers is not the issue, I would like to know if that when I pay them off, will I be able to get a cell phone or would that still affect me from getting a phone?
