Balance for what? I've never heard of a collection agency having the niceity of allowing debtors to log into a website and view the outstanding balance.

I would check with the collection agency that holds your debt and see how they can provide you with a statement of current balance owing and/or regular updates as payments are made.

Vampchick21, thanks for the advice and peace of mind. I will contact IQOR and find out if they have received the payments and if the debt has been contracted now by this agency called Federal Credit & Consulting etc.

By the way, what is the standard of offering a payment towards the amount owing to the original creditor.. I read somewhere if the loan is past 3 years, an offer of 25% of the total is acceptable?? Anyone know?

Take care!

I believe that in the majority of cases, when a collection agency contacts you, they've been contracted by the original creditor to help them collect the debt, meaning that the creditor does get the money. The other cases are when a creditor writes off a series of debts owed to them and sells said debts to agencies who are debt buyers. If you are wondering if RBC is getting the money, you can call them to confirm, I suspect iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency /IQOR was contracted to collect on the behalf of RBC and are ensuring the money goes there.

But yes, call iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency /IQOR and ask them about that phone call you received, especially since they haven't refused the three payments you've made to them since.

Hi!

Thanks for replying to this :)

I agree about contacting them and about the debt being passed on esp. since it is so small.

Yes, after the call I made at least 3 more payments to iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency /IQOR because I did not want to miss a payment or show default.

I paid through internet banking and have all the confirmation numbers etc. I am just wondering if all of these agencies forward the money paid towards the debt to RBC. Also, I do not have any info on this other agency Federal Credit & Consulting.

Thanks for the help :)

I'd get in touch with iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency /IQOR and ask them directly what's going on, telling them what you've told us. It doesn't make any sense for the original agency to pass along a file that was receiving regular monthly payments.

Question though, after you received that call, did you continue to make the payments to iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency /IQOR or did you start making them to the new company?

Are my payments being recieved if my file is transferred?

Postby RSmith007 » Tue Jan 06, 2009 12:17:39 PM

I currently have a Royal Bank/CSLoan with $1400.00 remaining. I make monthly payments of $50.00 to iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency /IQOR.

Several months ago I recieved a call from someone saying something about a loan being with Federal Credit & Consulting. I tried researching the company and emailed them requesting a proof of the debt in hard copy, after feeling funny getting of the phone due to the strangeness of the dialogue with the other party.

I received nothing showing a change of agency etc. I have continued making payments towards the amount owing each month.

I am now concerned that last 3-4 payments made towards the balance owing has not been recieved or deducted from my debt.

Does anyone know if payments that are made similiar to my situation are transfered to whomever is legally taking over the loan? (if another party really in fact has)

Thanks a bunch!
