How many lawyers do Canadian banks use?

Postby montyloree » Fri Aug 12, 2005 12:00:00 AM

I am asking this question directly to the banks in Canada. How many lawyers do you actually have working to keep your assets safe?

? What are your legal budgets each year for consumer loans and credit cards and mortgages etc?
? How many hours of legal work does your bank purchase on an annual basis?
? How many legal suits are there against each bank in Canada.

? How many law suits to banks actually lose in Canada.
? What percentage of law suits do banks win each year?

? Does the might and power of the bank tend to show up in its customer service? ie... is the bank ever willing to budge when it comes to its policies?

? Does the consumer just have to grin and bear the service they get?

I'll be the first to admit, that the services received when the consumer is starting an account with the banks is usually pretty satisfactory. The banks want business. They want the customers dollar. However, when something goes wrong in the system and the consumer is trying to get it fixed, the banks immediately flex their legal muscle and aren't flexible at all.

I am asking these question directly to:
Bank of Montreal
Scotia Bank
TD Canada Trust
Royal Bank
CIBC

I invite the banks to respond to these questions. I am interested to know (1) if they will answer, and (2) what they will say.

It important for Canadians to start to have more leverage with the banks. More negotiating power etc with the canadian banks.

Finally, which other industries outside of the financial industries have the same kind of legal power that the banks and insurance companies?

? British Columbia
? Alberta
? Saskatchewan
? Manitoba
? Ontario
? Quebec
? Newfoundland
? New Brunswick
? Nova Scotia
? Prince Edward Island
