Heard back, consumer affairs is checking into the fact that the company no longer exists and who would the money go to. Which sucks because I know dam well the collection agency will find somewhere sfor it to go

These agencies will have your file for a certain time and then it goes on to the next one and it will keep going till the debt is settled. The thing is not everyone knows about the sol and agencies will keep trying to get money out of a person 10 years later. In your case you know the difference.

I remember now it was a lease. If the lease was signed in 2004 and no payments were made the date of last activity should the month and year you signed the lease. If this matter went to court then a judgment was awarded then the date of last activity would be when the judgment was filed. I would push the collection agency to show you proof of the lease and if they don’t call a lawyer friend of yours if you have one and see if they will type a letter and send it off to them. If you don’t have lawyer, I’m sure a lawyer for a small fee will do the proper letter up for you. There has to be a lease somewhere and if there aren’t they you have a case. I would keep on consumer’s affairs and get them to investigate and have them get a copy of a lease if there is one.

It sounds like a small company and they can collect from another office in another province. They might be shrinking their expenses.

I hope my reply on your credit file was clear enough for you to understand.

sent, let me know. I wonder why the collections office closed here. I wonder if their license allows them to collect from here still.
