It seems that TotalDebtFreedom is a licensed collection agency in Ontario!!

You might have to try this one...

do a search for collection agencies as type and then "total debt freedom"

Unless you do the debt settlement yourself it’s not debt relief.

Debt settlement is a debt relief program where your creditors agree to considerably reduce your credit card debt in exchange for a one time lump sum payment, this process is called debt settlement.

In order to save a lot of money, you need to settle your debts yourself. I know everyone thinks the collection agencies are the bad guys and if you know how to negotiate you can get a better deal from a collection agency or a creditor then you can from a debt settlement company.

In debt settlement, the consumer makes monthly payments, out of which the debt settlement company takes its fees; the remainder is put into a "trust" or "special purpose" account.

If any one writes anything negative against Total Debt Freedom, don't believe a word they say. They will either be lawyers or Collection agencies working against them to try and pursuade you not to utilize their services. But believe me, they are awesome. An ex-gf of mine racked up my credit card over $20,000. I went through the total debt freedom program and even though I was apprehensive considering how much the collection agencies were saying against them. But I stuck with them and boy did it pay off. They continually assured me that they have settled with every bank including Scotia Bank. And the collection agency tried their guilt tactics and wage garnishing threats and lawyer threats and were unwilling to settle with me for less than $14,000. When I still denied this settlement since TDF promised me a settlement of close to $7500 I was shocked that only 1 month or so after giving my power of attorney to TDF that they settled with the collection agency for even less than that and I had to only pay the collection agency a total of $6000 to settle the debt and received confirmation of the settlement in full just yesterday. I was shocked, amazed, relieved and now debt free. What an amazing feeling. I give the utmost respect to TDF and all thay they did for me. There is no way I could have settled that debt on my own for that little. And believe me, despite being told not to negotiate with the collection agency by TDF, I was worried and tried on my own. But that was as low as they would negotiate with me. They called me at home, and work between the hours of 7am-9pm but it didnt scare me off. I almost took their offer a few times but glad I didnt. They are scam artists and very good at it. They actually try to make you believe that the debt is yours and that you owe it. Bull. Just remember that they have to honour certain requests of yours including stop calling you if you tell them to and that you can have them forward any information with you via mail. But getting TDF to run the whole show is the best way by far and they will guide you step by step through the process. Try to avoid giving any personal information to the collection agency whatsoever cause they will use it against you including your work number. Bad idea on my part doing that, but live and learn. Feel free to email me if you have any questions I would be glad to help since I feel I owe everyone for the help TDF gave me.Take care and good luck.

Hi Monty,

It would be a good idea to do live broadcast with Richard C in Jan/2009, like you did with Gail. The amount of people that will be seeking debt settlement in 2009 will be high. I believe the amount of people that will tune will be high, because there are people on this forum are thinking of filing for bankruptcy. It would be nice if Richard C could save a few.

Cheers

The thing to keep in mind with debt settlement is that banks have departments full of lawyers. They are pretty well insulated as far as their contracts and the law.

The lawyers have written their contracts to be in their favor. They've test their contracts in the courts.

So.. when you go to settle your debts, you have to keep this in mind. It's good that Richard warns about these implications.
