I wish I could use that, but I no longer use that Bank's services. I have tried to get the settlement from the Court House in Ottawa, but they said it has been archived due to the longevity of the settlement.

How about bank statements then? Even if those have been shredded, you should be able to obtain copies from your bank. Just a thought.

It was paid off in monthly installments, and I no longer have the cheques.

Curious here, do you have a copy of the certified check used for payment, along with the judgement that was filed against you? If so, my guess is those two items would go a long way in resolving this quickly.

Settlement question - what are my options?

Postby logidev » Mon Sep 08, 2008 06:00:18 PM

Many years ago I was working for an individual who, well, to put it politely, screwed me over... He took me to small claims and I had a settlement I needed to pay. I paid this in full, but this remains on my Equifax report (not on Transunion). I have sent Equifax a copy of the payments that were made and shows the full amount paid. The amount on my report differs from that in which I paid. I have made numerous attempts to contact the individual asking for a letter to state that I had paid this settlement in full. Equifax is asking me for this letter that I can't get a hold of... What other options do I have? Can I explain to Equifax that I have made several requests to the individual and not received anything? I just want this "debt" posted as paid which it is.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!
