Re: Kate's site, Small Dead Animals - The Roadkill Diaries

Nah, you gotta love her homepage. Everytime you see a dead skunk laying on the side of a road, the smell reminds you of a collection agency.

Maybe, iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency , Nordon, ARO, CBV or Total Credit Recovery should use the same emblem she does.

Hope they have me hauled up before the Human Rights Commission for hate propaganda. I'm not worried; you have to be human before you can have human rights.

Whereas I don't agree with everything http://www.smalldeadanimals.com writes... I DO believe in freedom of speech on the internet.

If anybody wants to contribute to Kate's legal fees, please do help out.

I believe that Kate is sincere in what she says, I believe that she is inflammatory to drive traffic to her site. She could possible tone down the language.

There have been times when I have felt like calling collection agencies names from my "bag of swears", but I won't, to keep the respectful decorum on this site.

Kate doesn't feel she needs to do that. Her subject and language help her drive traffic to her site.

I think that's missing the point. She might be a little vitriolic occasionally but the ultimate criterion should be: Is what one says truthful? Same goes with bloggers and columnists of different popularity but similar ilk such as Mark Steyn, Anne Coulter, David Warren, Michelle Malkin, Michael Coren, Kathy Shaidle etc. who all get the same treatment from vapid, politically correct liberals. It's getting so bad that you can't say anything without a lawsuit being threatened. There was a discussion of it by Alan Shanoff, the Torornto Sun's lawyer in the newspaper's Sunday edition.

http://www.torontosun.com/News/Columnists/Shanoff_Alan/2008/07/20/6209061-sun.php

It seems banal to bring up the comments of a man like Aleksander Solzhenitzin (slightly above average intelligence and perspicacity) in a forum that deals with mindless collection agencies, collection lawyers and their lackeys; however, he angered Western media reporters on his first visit after being exiled from the Soviet Union in 1974. They asked him how it felt to be finally free. He retorted that those of us in the West are not any more free than those in the East. We are bound by the totalitarianism of conformism. (Fyodor Dostoevski's Grand Inquisitor's anthill as it were). Well, it's certainly gotten that way through both the mechanics and mass psychology of political correctness. Only worse, since now it's internally assented to as well as externally coerced.

The lawsuits facing Kate and others are examples of that. That's why not me but Mark Steyn was asking for a small contribution to allay their legal defence costs.

Hey Raymond,
I met Kate http://www.smalldeadanimals.com) last year at the annual Saskatchewan bloggers meeting.

We talked about how "candid" and "open" she was on her blog.
She mentioned that she had many people who sent her nasty emails regarding her content.

Blogs are all about opinions. They may be opinions based on fact. But, freedom of speech allows us to express our opinions in an open arena, such as the internet.

I'd be in serious trouble if that wasn't the case.

I think that Kate could tone her comments down, however, that's what her readers like. They like the fact that she's honest and to the point.

She's not afraid to called people "rag heads" on her blog. That sort of terminology isn't acceptable to me. I believe you need to have respect for all people.

So.. if she's got an open blog like that, then she's going to be a target.

How do you propose I help Kate?

Got a buck or two???

OK, Loree, I see by Steyn's home page, it's time to come to the rescue of one of your fellow Saskatchewan blogsite hostesses, Kate McMillan of Small Dead Animals (The Roadkill Diaries). She, along with blogger Kathy Shaidle, are being sued for expressing some valid opinions that others took umbrage at. As well, Steyn was being hauled before, what's become an increasingly embarassing joke, the Human Rights Commission for some of his articles in Maclean's magazine concerning jihad activists.

This might be of interest to you, since as you'll recall, lawyer Deanna Natale called you up last year with some veiled threats about the content of some of your blogs; a pressure to which you bowed.

As you'll also remember, I used Kate's website last week to give some helpful and sincere career guidance to a young Total Credit Recovery collector. Apparently, he, too, took offense at my cyberspace offerings. Let's hope he doesn't he have both of us hauled before the HRC.
