Gillian, why would you give up?

If there are real errors on your credit report, the credit bureaus are regulated to fix them. Plain and simple.

If they're not errors, they won't.

Yeah.. thats what they "say".. what they do is another thing.
I've waited now a month an a half and still have my equifax report that is not updated. The transunion one I give up on.

Everything on your credit report must be accurate, complete and verifiable...

If the creditor can't verify the account info, shouldn't that credit bureau listing come off the credit report?!!

My transunion report contains a couple of things like that. Where it does not show the last date of payment or activity. I asked transunion about that and they stated that I have to call the original creditor to find out and they provided me with a number.

Problem is some of the accounts are so old that they no longer have the information on file and some of the numbers supplied by transunion are no longer in service. Something is seriously wrong with how transunion reports things. For instance those 2 items on there that were $10 maximum credit limits in good standing. Um.... who the heck grants $10 worth of credit? And they keep reporting every month. I'm not impressed by transunion, customer service wise and the way the information is presented. Considering this company is in control of reporting my financial picture to future lenders they really need to get with the program.

The collection item might from 2001 might have been transferred to a collection agency in 2005, thus being "opened" in 2005.

TransUnion and date opened question

Postby cbvsucks » Mon Mar 03, 2008 10:37:53 AM

On my TransUnion file it has a collection listed for $60. The original debt is from 2001 for movie late fees.

However, on the TransUnion report it says Opened: 06/2005

There is no information on the actual age of this debt which is beyond 6 years.

I have the original membership and amount claimed by the creditor. I filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs in Alberta and the Privacy Commissioner. Both said there was no case to pursue.

Will this stay on TransUnion 6 years from 06/2005?
