NEXT SCHEDULED TOUR: April 16, 2007
HOSTED BY: Monty Loree of
Canadian-Money-Advisor.ca
MOST IMPORTANT, THE TOUR SHOULD BE FUN AND EDUCATIONAL
The purpose of this Tour event is to get to know other bloggers who write about personal finance, and to show case these bloggers articles and expertise to their readers.
ARTICLE WRITERS
YOUR ARTICLE IS PLACED ON YOUR BLOG
Your article will be posted on your own blog. This encourages people to visit your blog.
(This points comes about as I had the impression that some of the bloggers thought that they would write and submit an article to another site.)
If you're scheduled to write an article or blog post for the Tour, you need to do the following:
- A week before the Tour, Post an announcement on your blog telling others that you will be participating in the Canadian Tour of Personal Finance blogs event. This will create some excitement and buzz for the event.
- Write your article and submit it for review to the Tour host at lease 3 days prior to the tour event.

ARTICLE REQUIREMENTS
The topics of your articles should be about personal finance. It's a pretty wide category so it should be pretty easy to write about!
Your goal should be to write about something that is fun and educational for your readers. You might want to do a little research on your topic to enhance it's relevance.
Linking to authoritative sources will help the credibility of your article or post.
It's important to give a link back to the hosting blog, so that your readers can follow what the host said about your article.
HOSTING BLOGS
It's the job of the hosting blog site to read over the Article writers material and give them a review.
This review includes a link back to the article writers blog site.
The review is a paragraph or two of what you liked or disagreed with about the article.
The point of the review IS to help the reader better understand your perspective of the article.
The point is NOT to be overly critical (Simon Cowell) of the article.
The benefit of Hosting is that you get to review some great articles, and have alot of people visit your blog to see what you're reviewing, and what else you're writing about! It's a great way for new people to see your blog.
LINKING TO ARTICLES IS GOOD
The golden rule of linking: It's better to give than to receive.
In order to generate traffic to all of the Tour's participating sites, it's very important that all of the article writers try to link to the other participants on their blogs and give their readers a heads up of who is participating.
As a rule, if other readers like your article, they'll naturally link to your blog from their blog or website.
VISIT THE PARTICIPANTS SITE AND COMMENT ON THEIR ARTICLES AND POSTS
To show your interest and appreciation in the other participants work, it's a great idea to drop by their blog and comment on their article.
Leaving comments, observations, or questions on your fellow participants blogs adds to the flavor and value of the article or post. It's a great way to start some good discussions with fellow bloggers!
WHERE TO SEE WHICH BLOGS ARE LINKING TO YOU:
Do a search for your blog on the following:
This will give you a nice review of who's visited your blog and has written something about your article and linked back to you!!
SCHEDULED TOUR EVENTS
Currently there is no set schedule for Tour events as it is a brand new activity. If there is sufficient interest from bloggers this Tour could be as frequently as every week.
