Yes, it's good to go. We used ours and got our points!! for the catamaran cruise, rum in the shops, and at the Varadero airport duty-free last month. Have a great trip!!

rayensp.. Yes it will work. Was informed by our sunwing rep last week that this card does indeed work. Just on a side note, any credit union credit cards will no longer work in Cuba.

hey rayensp..

I think you should check with CT and ask them if there is any affiliation. In that way, you will be able to know if its accepted or not and less hassle for you.

rayensp.. I used mine in Holguin with no problems. I didn't use the credit card for several months now but I don't think anything has changed.

Hi all, just wondering if canadian tire mastercard is accepted in varadero?

I,too RoseLP54, had the Canadian Tire MasterCard. If one owns a house or a condo, this card is very good indeed. My reason for cancelling it concerned the
$5.00 monthly fee for the purchase protection and
extended warranty that is too expensive for me.

I have the Canadian Tire cash back Mastercard along with other credit cards. I am now shying away from using them as it seems every one of them want your business and offer cash back, points or miles.

What do you think of this?

Cassandra.. DirkDM41.. If you are looking for that perfect credit card to apply for, the first thing you should do is determine what your financial needs and goals are in using a credit card. in that way, when you’re looking for that perfect credit card, you’ll know exactly what the credit card must have and you can stay focused on this instead of being sidetracked by attractive deals and special features that you don’t really need.
On Jun 10, 2011, DirkDM41 Said:
Hello, Cassandra! You are completely right when you sat that such a vast number of credit cards make it very difficult for us to make a choice. I just love shopping which is why these cash back cards are the best solution. I think that they are great for many reasons. First of all, every month I get certain amounts of money on my account just because I have been using it. Secondly, my cash back card helps me pay off many bills. For example, sometimes I can use it for buying petrol, groceries, medicines… On other occasions, I use it tyo pay the electricity and water bills. These are just few things that I can remember at this moment. Good luck and hope you make the best possible decision about credit cards!

Hello, I’m a student from Ontario. I think that now is the right time to get a credit card instead of my old debit card due to the fact that I have got a scholarship. I know that there are many types of credit cards so I guess that it is not going to be so easy to decide on the best possible one. The fact that some friends have mentioned the cash back card makes it all the more difficult. Is there anyone who could tell me the reasons for their popularity? Are they really so good as people say? Thanks!
On Jun 7, 2011, jonathanpaul Said:
CCShopper.. What i meant is that it is not easy to decide which card to apply for since their are a lot of credit cards out in the market today. You can have a rewards card, travel card, cash back, low interest and others. It is not about having a good or bad credit.
On Jun 7, 2011, CCHelper Said:
MagneticCard.. I disagree with Jonathan... getting a credit card is relatively easy if you've got good credit... You can easily get a cash back card from one of the issuers by just applying.. the questions I've got are these: do you have good credit or bad credit? do you pay off your balance at the end of the month? or do you carry a balance from month to month?
On Jun 6, 2011, jonathanpaul Said:
Getting a new credit card is not an easy thing nowadays since we have so many options. One of the good features is cash back. Cash back is quite common for credit cards nowadays. You see, when you buy something using your credit card, some banks give you kind of a reward. You can get rewarding points or you can get some cash added to your balance. These cash back is usually between 0.5% and 2% but now some banks offer even 5% cash back. It is a good feature, so I would suggest you to take it into consideration when deciding which credit card to take.

Hello everybody. I would appreciate if you could give me some help about credit cards. I am looking for a new credit card, so I am currently searching for the best deal. I heard something about cash back credit cards, but I don’t actually know what it is. Can you explain to me and tell me what are Best Cash Back Credit Cards?

I did a search for best cash back credit cards on youtube and didn't really find anything. there are alot of videos for credit cards in the u.s. but not canada... maybe that's a suggestion for the folks at Canadian-Money-aDvisor.ca!!

Antiquity, i agree with you.. it all depends on what people are going to use the credit cards for... if they want to save money, or pay for gas... personally i always like the cash.. I haven't found a gas retailer that works with Capital One here in New Brunswick
On Jun 4, 2011, Antiquity Said:
You might want to consider the Cap One cards that earn points instead of cash back. I can tell you from experience that points are nearly as good as cash back. The reason is that you can take 10,000 points and turn that into a $100 gas card or other kind of gift card that you are guaranteed to be able to burn through nearly as quickly as cash.
On Jun 3, 2011, stratford25 Said:
Oppss.. I think i need to think of getting a cash back card because there are times that i am not able to pay off my balance every month. I fell short of cash at times.

What other options do i have considering my situation?
On Jun 3, 2011, Monty Loree Said:
a cash back card will give you cash back, and a travel rewards is more for the person who likes to travel... their points amounts can be the same depending on the card.

i recommend that people only use cash back cards if they pay off their balance fully each month... if you don't pay off your balance each month and carry a balance, the interest will become too expensive... what i mean by this is the interest you pay will be more than the cash back rewards that you would accrue, making them expensive.

Do you pay off your balance at the end of the month? How do you know that you would be a good candidate for a cash back credit card in Canada?
