    Best Mastercard Credit Cards Canada

MasterCard credit cards are considered one of the most accepted and most reliable sources of credits that a card can have. These cards are issued by banks and other financial institutions or through different stores, shops and a variety of retail outlets. Before getting a credit card, you must first know how the card works and what features do the banks or companies offer. Furthermore, learn and remember the fees it requires for a card holder to settle for availing the service they have provided.

Prior in signing up to get a credit card and start on using it, you must be knowledgeable of the difference between a credit card and a charge card. Here are two pointers to ponder on before deciding what card you’re going to get.

Charge Cards are usually used for gas, groceries and shopping. In addition, these cards are offered by only a few companies compared to the other types of cards. Having this type of card would expect for a strict responsibility which means that you must settle all your balances every end of a month. Each time a billing is due for payment, you should pay for it or else, multiple penalties will be charged to your account. This would then cause a high balance that the card holder will go into with the trouble paying for it.

Credit cards are more lenient to their clients. They tolerate a card holder to carry a balance in their card in a monthly basis. But still, the company would go for on time payments of the full balance every time you get a billing statement. Penalties are not strictly charged as the bank or financial institution would give leeway time for the customer to settle their accounts.

Credit cards come in a various categories. Best Mastercard Credit Cards Canada. These are the categories involved: Good or Excellent Credit, Carry a Balance, Doesn’t Carry a Balance and Bad Credit. In addition, two sub categories are provided under the Doesn’t Carry a Balance which are Spending more or less than $2500 monthly.

    Good Credit-Excellent Credit

MasterCards are in numerous numbers as different companies offer these credit cards. They come from banks and financial institutions all over the world. The variation of these credit cards is on the benefits that the card holder will have as well as the feature and promos that these cards can avail. These cards also differ in the Annual and Interest fees that are being charged by the card issuer. Moreover, they also have dissimilar penalty charges to clients who are not settling their accounts on time.

CARRY A BALANCE-LOWEST INTEREST CHARGES POSSIBLE

When credit cards do have a balance then you are having the credit cards that carry a balance. Card holders are entitled of a credit that is usable in purchasing or to be used in any other transactions. It comes with a certain credit limit depending on the ability of the card holder to pay. Usually, customers who are good payers are given high credit limits compared to those risky clients that doesn’t settle accounts for consecutive months and goes beyond the limit most of the time. I don't find a difference. There is a difference between Visa and AMEX, or master card and American express. The difference is what credit card you will get in terms of - secured credit card, no interest credit card, cash back credit card, rewards credit card, no annual fee..

A Mastercard credit card from the U.S. will work in Canada. There is usually a foreign transaction fee of 1-3%. Your bank might impose a higher fee, so ask that bank before you leave. Also, the exchange rate used by the bank for credit card transactions might be different from the exchange rate that you mentioned and might change before your trip.

I had a Canadian Tire Mastercard up until I cancelled it. I then applied, and was promptly approved, for a Citi Mastercard which gave me a better rate, more benefits, and far less attitude, since Citi doesn't have any retail outlets where management and staff think they're better than everyone.

Xperia45,
I have a Canadian Tire mastercard and I like it... the points are good only to use at Canadian Tire though... which is good for me because I like free things there... I don't like to travel, and I don't really want cash back... I get a little thrill walking into Canadian Tire and getting stuff for free.... most times I don't pay cash for anything there.... Currently I have $170 worth of points available... this will cover most small purchases at Canadian Tire.

I want to bring to your attention, if your going to get a mastercard from candian tire you better not defalut on it.I had a little crisis in my life and i had to default on my Canadian tire mastercard plus others.I find out later that Canadian tire sold my debt to a company called contact resources services and not given to a collection agency.I have been trying to settle this debt for a very long time and this company works in a unprofessional manner.I just want to warn people stay away from applying for credit at Canadian tire.

On Jun 10, 2011, Quilliam Said:
CTmastercard.. What made you say that the best mastercard in Canada is the Canadian Tire MasterCard? Almost all of the cards give out rewards points. Is there something unique with that card?
On Jun 10, 2011, jonathanpaul Said:
hey Bobbypars..

You can switch to different card. If it does affect your score, it will only be a few points and will recover in a short time, less than 6 months. It will depend how the issuer handles the change, whether they transfer or close and reopen. It is not going to harm your file.
On Jun 10, 2011, $dollars$ Said:
In my case Bobbypars, I would limit my applications to one per year and don't close the credit cards too often either. Otherwise, too many inquiries on your credit bureau affects your credit score.
On Jun 7, 2011, Bobbypars Said:
Is it a bad idea to switch credit cards to take advantage of welcome bonuses? For example, BMO came up with a Mastercard that rewards holders 140 bonus airmiles for their first purchase. I have a BMO Mastercard 0.5% cash back that I seldom use and was thinking of switching to this card.

There is no real difference between the two. They are both very widely accepted in over one hundred and fifty countries and it is very rare to find a location that will accept one but not the other.

However, neither Visa nor MasterCard actually issue any credit cards themselves. They are both simply methods of payment. They rely on banks in various countries to issue credit cards that utilize these payment methods. Therefore, the interest rates, rewards, annual fees, and all other charges are issued by your bank and when you pay your bill you are paying it to the bank or institution that issued your card and not Visa or MasterCard.

Capital One credit cards are getting an edge over other credit cards particularly on giving rewards points. this can be a good choice for individuals who are aiming to collect points in which it can then be redeem with airline tickets, merchandises, gift certificates and a lot more.

Some of these cards are NOT available to Canadian Residents (ie Orchard Bank and Citi Secured), and I'm not sure why they're even here.

One card you really should be mentioning is that CUETS Financial (Credit Union Electronic Transaction Services) offers secured cards through many credit unions across Canada. You need to leave a deposit of 110% of the limit (minimum $550 for a $500 limit) and you can choose one of a few different cards, including one with no annual fee.
