I have heard lately of the many negative things regarding Capital One. My brother made an account with them several years ago and they said that they had a lot of problems. I made my own account with Capital One and over a year now, I never had a single with it.
Being a student, money is really an issue. Even if the initial credit limit of the credit card is big, it is still a sensible amount and practically trouble-free for me. I just recently went over my credit limit. The card was blocked which mean that I could not use my card any further which was all right for me. I then got a letter a week after what happened telling me of the situation I got into and ask me to resolve. I had to pay off everything having only a small fee with it. I had mentioned small because the credit card had given me a lot of convenience. I then learned that it is important not to breach the contract that we have agreed at the start. On the other hand, not like the banks, there was no charge for the letter sent to me to inform me about my situation.

But be cautious, the banks are not for your advantage as they will try to earn money. Aside from that, insurance and payment protection is not necessary and will just cost you extra cash. You can acquire card protection plans that less but still offers the same benefits. I do have my own payment protection. When you initiated in opening an account with them, you are required to phone a particular number to activate the card. With that, I must admit that I was pressure to obtain a card protection. But even if I had informed the person that I am holding another card, he sounded like he was not convinced. I then realized that this motivated salesmanship is somehow inevitable. Thus, you just have to be on guard always.

When the billing statements arrived at the end of the month, the statements presented all my transaction very clear and detailed having all my purchases reflected on the bill. The dates are also clear. The additional fees are well itemized as well as the current balance and the minimum payment to pay off in a specified date. It will provide you two weeks to settle your debt and on the back page of the statement, there is an explanation on how to pay them providing all the necessary instructions on bank deposits, cheques and others.
